INGREDIENTS

4 cups self-rising flour

6 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 cup milk

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large bowl, sift flour. Cut in shortening with knife. Add milk to make a soft dough. Roll out on a floured surface or board. Cut in dumplings into strips. Drop dumplings separately into boiling chgicken broth or stock and cook 10 to 15 minutes. Do not cover. Stir constantly and thoroughly so dumplings won't burn on the bottom.
