Six-Hour Salad

INGREDIENTS

1 head lettuce, shredded
1 c. celery, chopped
1 pkg English peas (10 oz), thawed in cold water
2 eggs, hard-boiled, mashed
1 med. red onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 c. mild cheddar cheese
bacon bits (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

In large container, layer vegetables in the order given. Mix salad dressing, sugar and vinegar and stir well until mixed. Put on top of salad as you would put icing on top of a cake. Be sure the dressing completely seals the salad, then seal with tightened lid and refrigerated for 6 hours before serving. See Six-Hour Salad Dressing for how to make dressing for salad.
