INGREDIENTS

1 cup and 2 Tbsp. flour
3/4 Cup whole milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. confectioners' sugar
vegetable oil, for frying

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat several inches of vegetable oil in a heavy, deep saucepan to 375 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Add eggs and milk; stir to make a smooth batter. Using a spouted measuring cup or funnel; pour batter in funnel, holding finger on the end to close the spout. Pour batter into the oil, while shaping a 6" circular design. Fry until golden on both side, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle the top with confectioners' powdered sugar and serve at once.
