INGREDIENTS
1 lb. sweet butter or clarified (see sauces for Clarified butter)
1/2 cup sifted confectionery sugar
2 egg yolks
1 oz. whiskey
1-1/2 to 1-3/4 lb. flour (does not have to be sifted)
1 tsp. baking powder (mix with flour)
2-3 boxes confectionery sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Have butter at room temperature; place in mixing bowl. Beat until light and creamy, about 10-15 minutes. Add sugar; continue to beat for 5 more minutes. Add egg yolks; beat until blended. Slowly add flour and whiskey until mixture is firm enough to shape. Mixture should not be stiff; it should be soft. Pinch off pieces of dough; shape round as a silver dollar or in a "U" shape. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 3500 for 15-20 minutes. Do not brown; cookies should only be light tan.
Sift confectionery sugar onto brown paper. As cookies are removed from the oven, place them on the brown paper. Sift confectionery sugar over each cookie, to cover, while they are hot. Place cookies in container when cold. Makes 40-50 cookies.
