Soft Molasses Cookie

INGREDIENTS

4 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsps. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup hot water
1 cup molasses

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix sugar and egg together, mix the rest of the dry ingredients, then cut in the shortening. Then add hot water and molasses. Let the dough chill for at least an hour. Make cookies into a ball about the size of a tablespoon. Then press down with the palm of your hand. Flour the cookie sheet lightly. Don't grease the cookie sheet. Cook for 12 - 15 minutes at 350degrees F. Bottom of the cookie should be lightly brown. This cookie is like a cookie cake. Taste like gingerbread cookies.

TIP: Eat cookies with a glass of cold milk.
