INGREDIENTS
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, melted (2 squares)
1/2 - 1 tsp almond extract
4 eggs
21 oz. can (2 cups) prepared cherry fruit filling
3 tbs. almonds, sliced or slivered
powdered sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of 15 x 10 inch jelly roll pan. (lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off) combine flour, sugar, chocolate flavor, margarine, almond and eggs; beat two minutes at medium speed. Spread in prepared pan. Using about one tablespoon per serving, spoon cherry filling in three rows of five over batter. Sprinkle almonds over filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly in center. (Do not over bake). Cool. Dust with powdered sugar.
Note: Self-rising flour and a 13 x 9 inch pan is not recommended.
Tip: Two 9-inch square pans may be substituted. Spoon filling in 2 rows of three, make makes 6 servings per pan.
