INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar
4 egg yolks, beaten slightly
2 tbs. flour
1 cup milk
1 tbs. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust, chilled
TOPPING:
4 egg whites
8 tbs. sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix 1-cup sugar, egg yolks, flour, milk, butter and vanilla. Pour into unbaked pie crust and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, reduce heat and cook at 325 degrees about 25 minutes or until knife comes out clean in the center. Remove from oven and to with meringue.
MERINGUE: To make a meringue, beat egg whites; add sugar gradually and continue beating untill meringue holds in peaks. Spread lightly on slightly cooled pie. Be careful to spread all the way to the edges so that filling will be sealed. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 15 minutes. Cool slowly.
